Perth Glory head coach Ruben Zadkovich has rejected rumours of an altercation which allegedly took place before the side’s match against Western Sydney Wanderers.
Rumours about a dispute between Glory defender Mark Beevers and midfielder Ryan Williams began to spread during the side’s match against the Wanderers in Perth on Friday night.
It is the first game so far this season Beevers and Williams have not started for the Glory and have been left out of the matchday squad.
Allegedly an incident occurred before kick-off, however, Zadkovich denies any issues between his players.
“I got asked about that on the pitch post-match and it’s the first I’ve heard of it. Certainly no training ground bust ups, we didn’t train so that’s actually quite funny because all we’ve done is really recover and then have a separate group running,” he said.
“They were leading the team song there and having a right old chuckle.”
Despite Williams featuring in much of the Glory’s media during the week, according to Zadkovich he did not play in the Wanderers match due to a sore groin.
Zadkovich also said Beevers was also out due to a stiff back.
“They both tried to train here at Macedonia Park the day before the game and didn’t get through their fitness test,” he said.
“I’m not sure where that external noise comes from but like most things, when you’re down the bottom of the ladder you know the walls will come out and people will talk but we are not really interested in rumours or heresay.”
Glory will continue to pursue a climb up the table when they face a fifth-placed Brisbane Roar on Tuesday night.
