Don’t lie. You’ve always wanted to know which Star Wars character your A-League Men club would be in 2022.
Melbourne City and Western United: Darth Vader
Darth Vader is undoubtedly one of the strongest characters in the series. Winning his battles in ruthless, unsympathetic ways, Melbourne City and Western United prove to play their opponents with clinical finishing, and unstoppable playmaking.
The dark sides power is within them.
Adelaide United and Wellington United: The Sith
The Sith is strong but also weak. Although his power seems overwhelming to the weaker and younger jedi, the Sith proves to only barely win his battles against the more experienced lightsabre wielders. Similarly, Adelaide United and Wellington Phoenix display moments of brilliance and skill but are still lucky to be considered as two of the better teams this year.
Macarthur FC: Obi-Wan Kenobi
Similarly, to the Sith, Obi-Wan is strong, but there is always an anxious expression on the face of audiences when he finds himself in a fight. The Jedi Master fights with the everlasting feeling that he might lose. He narrowly escapes death multiple times and barely sees a convincing victory over his opponents, just like Macarthur FC.
Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC: Kylo Ren
Kylo Ren, the ‘supposed’ successor of Darth Vader, who was meant to take over the Empire in convincing fashion. A lot of expectation was riding on the back of Kylo Ren, with a sort of lightsabre that looked unbeatable. But it is fair to say Kylo Ren did not live up to the expectations, and it looked like he was a force to be reckoned with.
Central Coast Mariners and Newcastle Jets: Mace Windu
A highly-ranked Jedi master, is Yoda’s next of kin, and provides a sort of relief to all Jedi. With a supposed rich history of victory and success in battle and duels, Mace Windu seems menacing and overpowered, but proves to be weak and fragile. Anyone going up against Mace Windu believes that they can win, and it’s similar to the Central Coast Mariners and Newcastle Jets.
Western Sydney Wanderers and Brisbane Roar: General Grevious
So much potential yet so little victory. General fights well, and seems to have the upper hand physically. He even has four arms meaning he can hold four light sabres, making him one of the seemingly most dangerous bad guys out there.
But how disappointing are his battles. In situations where it’s a four vs one light sabre battle, he still can’t seem to win. The same can be said about Western Sydney Wanderers and Brisbane Roar more often than not this season.
Perth Glory: Jar Jar Binks
Somehow, Jar Jar Binks pulls off the most ridiculous and unexplainable outcomes that somehow turn battles on its head. Even the fact that he survives is a miraculous outcome, nevertheless help the Jedi reach their objectives. But there is no underestimating on how unhelpful he is. Although he tries his best, his efforts always fall short and are bizarre.
